minimal windows has unveiled a cutting-edge angled glazing solution at St John’s Studio in London, showcasing its expertise in bespoke, technically challenging installations.
The standout feature of the project is its striking front and rear elevations, each inclined at bold angles of 7 and 16 degrees. This unusual geometry required a highly specialised glazing approach, pushing the boundaries of standard sliding door systems.
To meet the demands of the design, minimal windows engineered custom running gear and precision bearings capable of supporting the shifted centre of gravity created by the inclined panes. The system includes four large sliding minimal windows, all aligned to follow the building’s dramatic angles.

A full-scale prototype was developed and tested using a bespoke rig designed to simulate real-world conditions, including tilt angles of up to 20 degrees. Testing demonstrated smooth sliding, reliable bi-parting action, and consistent re-engagement throughout repeated cycles.
The installation also passed water ingress tests with flying colours, achieving Water Class 7A at 300Pa without the need for complex baffling or extra sealing. Even under simulated rainfall, the system maintained full functionality and performance.
The adjustable rig used for the prototype remains available for future projects, offering architects and developers a reliable method to validate bespoke angled glazing systems for non-standard builds.
