Shoreham Beach House is a contemporary beachfront home in Brighton where the main living spaces are defined by expansive beach house sliding doors looking straight out to sea. Along the south elevation, a full run of minimal windows® sliding doors with ultra-slim framing opens these rooms directly onto the shoreline, so the façade reads as an almost continuous plane of glass, and the beach feels like an extension of the interior.

The brief called for beach house sliding doors that could combine very large glass sizes with reliable performance in a harsh marine environment. minimal windows® was specified for its ability to carry tall sliding leaves while maintaining minimal sightlines and smooth operation. On this project, the largest single leaf measures 1.9 m × 5.7 m and weighs around 500 kg, demonstrating what is possible when the sliding system is integrated into the architecture from the outset.

Installation was carefully planned around the exposed conditions at Shoreham Beach. Each glazed element was craned into position, allowing precise placement in high winds and protecting the bespoke double-glazed units. The glass was finished to a marine-grade specification for long-term resistance to salt spray and corrosion, preserving the crisp dark frame lines over time.

The finished façade is calm and transparent. When closed, the doors form a highly insulated glass wall; when open, they dissolve the threshold between inside and out, turning the living spaces into a front-row seat to the Sussex coastline. Looking to transform your space? Contact us now.
