Kew Road

contemporary rear glass extension with sliding glass doors

A large rear glass extension was added to a traditional townhouse in greater London. The innovative glass design creates a light, open-plan living area which contrasts to the original brick facade. The design features oversized glazing with floor-to-ceiling elevations of Keller minimal windows® sliding glass doors used to open up the new living spaces in the contemporary extension creating an indoor-outdoor feeling.

One of the key focal points of the extension is the Keller minimal windows® sliding glass doors which were integrated with a huge elevation of oversized glass stretching over two storeys, revealing a glass stairwell in which the natural light is reflected around illuminating the hallway. The full height sliding glass doors with their minimal 21mm framing create a brilliantly lit interior to the open plan layout in the kitchen and dining area, particularly where the contemporary structural glass meets at the corner connecting it to the glass roof above. This up and over roof light heightens the bespoke kitchen allowing light to carefully fill the spaces. The slim framed sliding glass doors are perfect for giving uninterrupted views of the garden, the British weather restricts the Keller minimal windows® to be opened but allows you to be spectators of each season recreating the feeling of being outside.
