light filled home extension with open corner and floating roof
A period home, backing onto Richmond Park, was extended with a high quality and modern extension. Keller minimal windows® sliding glass doors were used on two full floor-to-ceiling glass elevations of the new home extension, blurring the boundary between the internal living areas and garden. The focal point of the extension design is the opening corner where Keller minimal windows® are sliding away from a 90 degree corner connection, leaving no frame or post in its wake. This ‘floating roof’ design was the architects favourite aspect of the overall design.
2PM Architects, the architects for this modern extension commented that;
“The most striking feature of [the] design is the completely frameless corner. [The] large glass doors can be slid open on both sides with the roof floating above, allowing the living space to flow freely in to the garden and creating a unique feeling of space.”
All of the slim aluminium framing of the Keller minimal windows® sliding glass doors was finished in the popular colour of RAL 7016 MATT.
The two full height sliding glass walls with their minimal 21mm framing create a brilliantly light interior to the open plan room layout downstairs, even when the opening corner is closed.
