minimally framed sliding doors used on this glass extension
A large contemporary glass extension was added to this family home in Henley-on-Thames using our minimally framed sliding glass doors to create bright, light-filled open plan living spaces with a minimal design aesthetic. The modern extension provides the family home with a lounge and dining room separated with a double sided fireplace in the middle. The new extension features a large glass elevation of minimal windows as the key focal point to the rear facade. The slim vertical profile of 21mm enables a seamless transition between the internal and external living spaces.
When the minimal windows are slid open the floor finishes are flush inside to outside, with all necessary drainage cleverly hidden in the base tracks and drainage blocks below. The thin framed sliding glass doors provide the primary access to the decked patio area. This type of modern sliding patio door helps merge the internal and external living areas when the doors are both open and closed.
The slim aluminium framing maximises the light entering the living spaces whilst taking advantage of the surrounding harbour views. All of the aluminium framing has been powder coated in a dark grey RAL 7016 contrasting effectively with the timber cladding and traditional stone walls.
