Renovation of a luxury apartment building in the heart of Knightsbridge featuring minimal windows® double height vertical sash windows
This stunning property in central London underwent some major renovations internally, without disrupting the buildings external facade. Originally, the building housed nine self-contained flats but was transformed and now contains a mix of lateral and duplex family apartments as well as single storey studio apartments.
The interior design of the building follows a bright and minimal aesthetic, with cream walls and light flooring. This colour scheme is complemented by the dark contrasting stair railings and bold framing on the minimal windows double height glazing elevations.
Stairwells are often areas that are forgotten about, with the space often being dark and dull. This luxury residential property has overcome this issue, with the triple glazed vertical sash windows on either side reaching a staggering 7m tall.
One of the double height vertical sash windows is fixed whilst the other was designed to allow the bottom pane to slide up, using an automated drive system for ease of opening. This leaves an open aperture, allowing passage through.
Multiple internal courtyards are situated within the building and are enclosed by impressive glass facades. This allows natural light to flow down and filter into the surrounding rooms, highlighting the luxurious interiors and increasing the perceived size of the spaces.
Integrated slot drains were used alongside the minimal windows systems to provide external drainage whilst maintaining a minimal design and flush threshold.
The renovations of this stunning apartment building also featured a range of glass doors and structural glazing, designed and installed by minimal windows UK glazing partners IQ Glass.
Through the building and luxury apartments, eight minimal windows 4+ triple glazed sliding glass doors were installed. These slim sliding doors have exceptionally high-performance levels and are the ideal choice for maximising natural light in the internal living spaces.
A combination of one, two and three pane doors was used, with the single pane sliding doors retreating into a pocket cavity within the building structure.
On the upper floors, a combination of minimal windows triple glazed sliding doors and glass balustrades were used to create modern Juliet balcony designs that caused no obstruction to the flow of light into the apartments or the views out.
Natural light is excellent for highlighting luxury interior design elements, especially as some high-end décor was designed to be viewed in natural light.
minimal windows sliding glass door system is not good only for natural light and stunning views. Our sliding doors are also good for new build residential projects with PAS 24 security certification.
minimal windows slim sliding glass doors are the only sliding doors passed UK standard ‘must-have’ security test in the market. PAS 24:2016 certification should be used for the new dwelling residential project according to Building Regulation Approved Document Q.
