Toggleminimal windows sliding office partitions
A key feature of the design for the European Headquarters was the integration of minimal windows products, which enhanced both the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the workspace. minimal windows’ flexible and sustainable design played a pivotal role in creating a dynamic office environment that aligns with Wolverine’s vision.
The choice of minimal windows allowed for a sophisticated, sleek appearance throughout, contributing significantly to the overall ambience of the headquarters.
One of the key design elements was the steel frame design used in the sliding office partitions, chosen specifically to complement the steel glazing used throughout the space. This consistent design language created a harmonious aesthetic across the building, ensuring a seamless flow from one area to the next. All elements, including the sliding office partitions, were finished in RAL 7021 with a textured surface, ensuring a unified visual identity across the entire project.
There was a specific challenge related to the texture colour on all items. The client had requested a matching texture, and since Keller was made in a different factory, we encountered some difficulties matching the paintwork. However, by using the same paint shop, we were able to achieve consistency across all the elements.
Each component of the minimal windows system was specified with TXD acoustic laminate (LAM) to meet the client’s high demand for acoustic performance. The client had requested a high level of acoustic performance, and while we did not meet the exact target, we came very close by adapting our system and using acoustic laminate to improve the sound insulation.
This specification was key to ensuring the success of the office’s open-plan layout, allowing for both privacy and collaboration. Additionally, anti-rattle solutions were incorporated where necessary to further reduce movement and maintain the high-quality performance of the installations.
The sliding office partitions were installed with the same attention to detail, providing flexibility in workspace configuration without compromising on design or acoustic qualities. These partitions allowed for easy transitions between areas, fostering a dynamic work environment while ensuring that noise levels were effectively managed.
Challenges Faced During Installation
Material delivery and installation were significant challenges throughout the project. Due to the lift size, panel sizes had to be reduced, requiring us to split some panels to fit them into the building. Installation was further complicated by the fact that the floors were on pedestals, which couldn’t bear the additional weight of the lifting equipment. To work around this, we had to move everything by hand using trolleys, with six people required to install the heaviest panels. This manual handling and installation process was complex and labor-intensive, but we managed to complete it successfully.
Additionally, the bifold doors presented another challenge. The client requested that they bi-part in the middle, a feature that was not possible with the system as designed. After much consideration, we found a solution by using aftermarket retrofit catches to hold the doors in place, ensuring they would function as required. A drawing of this solution is attached.
