Hidden House is a contemporary coastal residence located on the rugged north Cornish coastline, designed by Loyn + Co Architects to sit sensitively within its natural surroundings. The architecture prioritises a strong connection between the interior living spaces and the dramatic coastal landscape, using natural materials, exposed concrete and expansive glazing to create a home that feels both sheltered and open.

To support this vision, minimal windows supplied and installed a series of bespoke slim-framed sliding glass doors throughout the property. The large-format glazing was carefully specified to maximise panoramic sea views, enhance natural daylight and create seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces. With ultra-slim sightlines and high-performance glazing tailored for coastal conditions, the minimal windows systems allow the surrounding landscape to remain the focal point while delivering exceptional durability and year-round comfort.

A palette of exposed concrete, natural materials and expansive glazing was carefully selected to withstand the challenging coastal climate while maintaining a strong visual connection to the outdoors. Hidden House demanded glazing systems capable of delivering outstanding performance in one of the UK's most exposed coastal locations. At minimal windows, our sliding door systems were specified to provide the perfect balance of expansive views, thermal efficiency and long-term durability against harsh marine conditions.

The large-format glazing was engineered to withstand wind loads of 2.07kN/m², ensuring structural stability and reliable operation even during extreme coastal weather. Marine-grade coated aluminium frames in RAL 7011 were selected to provide enhanced resistance against corrosion caused by salt-laden air, helping to maintain the appearance and performance of the systems over time.

The exposed coastal location of Hidden House presented several technical challenges that required careful consideration throughout the glazing design and installation process. Positioned on the north Cornish coastline, the property is subject to high wind loads, driving rain and salt-laden air, all of which can impact the long-term performance of architectural glazing systems.

To address these demanding conditions, the minimal windows® sliding door systems were specified with marine-grade finishes and high-performance glazing engineered for coastal environments. This ensured exceptional durability while maintaining the slim sightlines and minimalist aesthetic central to the architectural design.
