Bosham a glass extension located in a picturesque coastal village in West Sussex, is a refined contemporary residential design. Set within a sensitive landscape between the South Downs and Chichester Harbour, the project focused on creating a modern glass extension that would open the home to its surroundings while maintaining architectural clarity, performance, and long term durability.

minimal windows  was commissioned to design, manufacture, and install bespoke ultra‑slim glazing systems to support the architectural ambition. The result is a glass led extension defined by transparency, precision engineering, and seamless connections between inside and out, demonstrating how advanced glazing can shape modern living without visual compromise.

How minimal windows  Provided Precision Engineering for the Complex Contemporary Design

For Bosham the minimal windows  delivered a bespoke glazing solution centred around three-track sliding doors, engineered to meet the architectural ambition of the project while performing flawlessly in a demanding coastal environment.

The three‑track sliding door configuration was selected in RAL 7016, with a marine grade finish which enabled wide openings and exceptional design flexibility. This system allows multiple large glass panels to stack neatly behind one another, creating expansive clear openings while maintaining ultra‑slim framed sightlines when closed.

Why the Three‑Track System Was the Best Fit

The three‑track configuration allows multiple large glass panels to slide and stack seamlessly behind one another, creating significantly wider openings than traditional two‑panel systems. This was essential for Bosham where the design intent focused on creating a strong, fluid connection between the internal living spaces and the external landscape.

When fully opened, the system transforms the extension into an open, light‑filled space. When closed, the ultra‑slim profiles maintain uninterrupted views and clean architectural lines.

Design Context and Challenges

Set within a sensitive West Sussex setting, the Bosham project required a contemporary glass extension that felt light, refined, and deeply connected to its surroundings. The architectural intent was clear, maximise natural light, frame expansive views, and maintain a calm, minimalist aesthetic while ensuring the glazing could perform reliably in a coastal environment.

This presented a number of challenges, including large glazed openings, minimal visible framing, and the need for precision alignment across sliding and fixed elements.

minimal windows resolved these challenges through bespoke engineering and careful system selection. By specifying ultra‑slim, precision‑manufactured sliding door systems and working closely with the project team from early design stages, we delivered a glazing solution that integrated seamlessly with the architecture enhancing openness, preserving clean sightlines, and ensuring long‑term performance without visual compromise.

The Result

Bosham now features a beautifully resolved Glass Extension in Sussex that transforms the way the home interacts with light, space, and landscape. Expansive glazing frames views, floods the interior with daylight, and delivers a calm, contemporary living environment.

minimal windows played a central role in realising the architectural vision  delivering a glazing solution that enhances both the visual impact and everyday performance of the home.
